I made some nice e-friends trough the game..

1 by doing those HoS runs, just because we teamed up so many times and now the same thing in the Deep, i keep joining the same group so now we all laugh and have a good time.

Also your guild should be a place to make new nice e-friends

I have had no real trouble finding 'e-friends'. Just play the game and stuff, and you will find a few. The best way to find a e-friend would probably do some sort of 2 man farming thing. Thats how i met a lot of people, was by doing UW farming as a 55 with a SS. Met a lot of people and have many of them on my friends list. Also, as previously mentioned, joining big guilds is handy.

That's the joke of the day. Next thing you will tell us is that rank is a factor of emotional intelligence (mine is 9 if you care).

Where in PvP exactly do you need decent social skills? Best thing people do is listen and do their job (positioning, calling hexes, splits) well because all they want is farm fame (or the old ladder) or any other points and not suck.

Friends? Who needs friends when you've got heroes?

But seriously, I had quite a lot in my old guild, I was one of the regulars and an officer (then leader then back to officer), y'see, so becoming well known in the guild was just, uh, natural. Then the guild broke up and not many of my old friends logged on anymore. I lost 'em all.

What pisses me off most, suprisingly, that I still owe this one guy some tanned hides from when I just started the game. He's been on my friends list for ages, i'm just hoping he logs back on so I can give 'em to him!

Oh well, Koss is my ol' buddy now, as well as the other 24 heroes (or something like that). Not to mention my new guild.

So, uh, yeah, just join a good guild like everyone else is saying.

If eFriends are what you are after, Gri-- er, Guild Wars is not the place to find them. Try IRC or something. Much more.... receptive.

I suggest, joining a big guild with a bunch of people, when they ask for help, help them and then yea.

It's what some one in our guild did, she's now one of the coolest people there! :O

Sharing Experience:

It is easy to hard to gain *new* eFriends from Guild Wars, mostly depend on time.

Usually it is easier to get new eFriends in Guild Wars if there are new contents being introduce (New Campaign, New Expansion, New Place, New Mission, and more) and it is getting harder afterwards.

Some Points why its getting harder:
1. the game not forcing people to keep playing.
2. instancing environment + party size limit. (unable to join party in the middle)
3. limited things to do in the end of the game. (or the game end fairly quick and you don't have more reasons to keep playing)
4. guild wars lack of this things: most people like to talk to random people but not limited in the same instant area (such as city/outpost), they tend to like talking to random people while doing something else.

and more~

Advise: pick a good time to play.

Easy example: there is a time where alliance chat filled with lot of people and sometimes it just 1 or 2 people talking or maybe none. In Guild Wars it is good to know when to play and when not

I have no friends in Guild Wars besides my Guild Leader who for some reason loves me and forces Officer status on me. I H+H everything though, so I can't complain about no friends.

I give any Fiery Dragon Swords I find to new warriors in low-level areas.

I've taught people how to FFF with heroes, letting them leech off my efforts, only to have them abuse me and put me on their ignore list.
I've performed countless ferrying and taxi services for no charge whatsoever while others around me were asking Platinum in exchange for the same.

I will say that I've found the PvP side of Guild Wars (don't count RA, TA or AB) to be much more cooperative and coordinated. As for PvE...well I'll just say that the cool players are the hardest to find. That's not to say that PvP has it's side of douchebags as well, just less of them.

PvP has less douchebags? I can't believe that after even spending 10 minutes in HA. Cool PvE players are hard to find because they are all H+Hing everything, lol. I never had problems making friends in MMOs that weren't instanced, I think that might be the bigger part of the problem.

The main problem I have is remembering old friends who had previously left the guild and then contact me months later, with a new character name, for a chat.

Only the other night I was chatting to someone who knew me for 30 minutes without having any idea who he/she was. I don’t like to ask as I think it sounds rude

Maybe it’s because I’m old and forgetful

I would, after 12 failed runs in Thunderhead Keep. Not to mention the overall failure of PUGs in general I've witnessed (I'd say that literally 5% were successful).

Because in GW, if someone leaves - not a disconnect, but someone actually leaves the game - and depending on that person's role (say, a monk), you're pretty screwed. In other MMOs, if the healer leaves you're like "Aw crap, well, let's starting hollorin' and see if anyone wants to heal for us while we wait here in this dungeon".

I've met many great people and many horrid people in my year and a half or so of game play. I'm also in a relatively small, close nit guild. Well...the older members are close nit, most of our new members are rather quiet

Anyway, sometimes meeting people is hard and no matter what area of the game you play (pvp or pve) you're going to run into more assholes than people you'd like to get to know. I've made my friends from just hanging out in outposts, through playing Aspenwood or AB, through occassionally hanging around in a low level area and simply helping people out, and once in a while through my various pointless amusing arguments that I get into. Weird how things work out sometimes.

If you still need someone to wander along through Factions with you, I am more than willing. I have a sin, a rit, an ele, and a baby mesmer that I have to shuffle through that game yet. I think all of my other characters (except my paras) have been through it as well, so I have no shortage of chars that could help out. ^.^ You can add Ebony Shadowheart and Eve Shadowprayer to your friend's list if you'd like, so you know when I'm on. (two separate accounts)

I've made friends in GW, but 8 out 10 have turned out to be stalkers* (slight exaggeration, but you get my drift), so I keep people at arm's length now and mostly just H/H.

*EDIT-> I don't mean to imply that everyone who plays GW is a stalker. I just have a real gift for being a nut magnet.

This thread isn't about success...I think you'll find that even with the suckiest of all sucky PUGs, most people in the group are still nice and fun to play with. Especially when you get into whisper with them and spend the rest of your time talking about how badly your group is failing.

Dual Monk FoW and UW runs ALSO make friends. You find someone good, F-list each other, do a few runs together and before you know it, you're doing missions and quests as well as farming :}

Dammit my spelling is failing today -,-
